Spat over 'terrorists' halts Conn. 9/11 memorial

An effort to honor a Sept. 11 victim in Connecticut has been halted by the unexpected conflict arising from the victim's father insisting that his son's memorial say he was murdered by "Muslim terrorists."

Town officials in Kent say it would be inappropriate to single out a religious group on a project on town property that's paid for with taxpayers' money. The memorial that was to be erected outside the town hall is on indefinite hold.

Peter Gadiel's (GAHD'-ee-ell's) son, James Gadiel, was killed in the attack on the World Trade Center. He's criticizing town leaders for being too politically correct.

The dispute gained traction when it was featured on Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly's show recently. That led to a flood of e-mails and phone calls to the town supporting Gadiel.
