The head of a conservative civil liberties organization has a problem with the fact that it's virtually impossible for American consumers to purchase anything that is not made in communist China.
John Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute, has recently released a video commentary entitled "Is America Made in China?" The video explores the economic and moral ramifications of America's increasing dependence on one of the world's most infamous abusers of human rights. "I mean [everything] from crucifixes to talking Jesus dolls, plastic American girl dolls, [to] plastic American Express cards are made in China. Even the Old Glory American flags are made in China, so it's amazing," marvels Whitehead. "Families have actually tried to live a year without buying Chinese goods. It's impossible." Whitehead says between 2001 and 2007, 2.5 million Americans lost jobs to China. "I am a little dismayed at what's happened because people just seem to be turning a blind eye to it," he continues. "But it's mainly greed [and] ignorance. The large corporations are making a lot of money, [including] NBC. I refuse to watch the Olympics." That network currently is televising the Summer Games being held in China. The conservative civil liberties advocate says it will be up to individual Americans to raise a moral voice and tell the truth about the abuses committed by the communist Chinese regime.
