Notre DameNotre Dame's commencement ceremony will be this Sunday, and the surrounding controversy continues.

The controversy surrounds commencement speaker President Barack Obama, who will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree from the Roman Catholic school. Graduating senior Greer Hannan comments on Notre Dame president John Jenkins.

"I'm very disappointed that Father Jenkins invited President Obama to be Notre Dame's commencement speaker," she says. "I think it is completely inappropriate for a politician who has worked for abortion rights in this country to be honored by a Catholic university."

Greer Hannan (Notre Dame student)Some graduates will boycott the ceremony and conduct a prayer vigil -- but not Hannan.

"A number of us have decided that it's best for us to attend the commencement and to witness publicly to our viewpoint on this matter," she notes, "so we will attend and wear special mortar boards that have a cross and two baby feet on it that will be visible from the audience and visible from the stage."

Following graduation Hannan will move to Ireland to work full-time with the homeless.
