homosexual marriageA conservative activist says big city mayors are pandering to the homosexual agenda, but only because homosexual activists pushing "counterfeit marriage" are concentrated in those large cities.

On Monday at its annual meeting, the U.S. Conference of Mayors passed a resolution supporting what it calls "marriage equality for same-sex couples." The resolution also included support for federal bills such as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, as well as repealing the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Interestingly, 31 of the 41 states represented by the 173 mayors who attended the meeting have either constitutional or state laws protecting traditional marriage. Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, says the mayors are out of touch with the mainstream American public.
 Peter LaBarbera
"People in most states now have ratified marriage between a man and a woman, and the big cities are pandering to the homosexual side. Fortunately, the big cities and the big city mayors do not represent the American people," he believes. "The American people are solidly for marriage between one man and one woman. And even in blue states like Illinois, even civil unions didn't pass here in Barack Obama's own home state."

LaBarbera claims that homosexual activists are largely concentrated in big cities and do not accurately represent the rest of the country.
