Vandals have attacked the building of the organizer of an international pro-family conference that will be held next week in the Netherlands.
Pro-family leaders and organizations from more than 50 countries and six continents will be in Amsterdam Monday as World Congress of Families V kicks off at the RAI Convention Centre. The conference (August 10-12) will celebrate the natural family and discuss ways to protect it from threats such as abortion, population control, same-sex "marriage," pornography, and prostitution. However, some residents of Amsterdam are not excited that the pro-family gathering is being held in their city. World Congress of Families spokesman Don Feder reports that the offices of EuroCongress, the professional conference organizer for World Congress of Families, were damaged by vandals last week. "They weren't able to break into the offices, but they did considerable damage to the outside of their building. They also spray-painted slogans on the building -- anti-family, anti-Christian slogans," he explains. "I don't know the monetary extent of the damages, but it's certainly an indication of the type of opposition that we'll have to the [World] Congress in Amsterdam. Of course, when we decided to go there, we knew that there would be opposition because this is a bastion of people who don't exactly think the way we do about these issues." Among the co-sponsors of World Congress of Families V are the American Family Association, Focus on the Family, the Home School Legal Defense Association, Media Research Center, and National Right to Life Committee.
