The international men's ministry known as Promise Keepers continues to revamp and update its initiatives.
The ministry recently announced their 18th season of two-day arena events, and the theme for this year's meetings is "Manhood 08: Let the Truth Be Told." As in the past, the events will feature prominent evangelical leaders and worship bands. However, Promise Keepers president Tom Fortson says much of the emphasis will focus on what happens in a man's life when he returns to his home and church after an arena event. "We're moving towards more content with the guys," he explains. "We have a new product, called 'PK Adventure,' where we're moving into the theaters -- where a guy can go for a 90-minute program in his local theater and then for a project in his community." Fortson maintains that Christian men need to be prepared to defend their faith in a culture that favors moral relativism -- and to do so as spiritual leaders of their households, communities, and churches. "That's why we proclaim truth out of God's Word -- and God's Word is absolute," says Fortson. "He's the creator of the universe; He declared it, and we follow Him." The first PK Adventure is set for April 12, and will feature a satellite broadcast of several speakers in the morning. The participants then use the afternoon for a community service project.
