Operation Rescue is asking Ohio officials to investigate abortionist Martin Haskell.
The request is based on a three-part investigation conducted by the organization. Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, explains the investigation. "We really exposed in detail the fact that Mr. Haskell has used his extensive wealth to buy off politicians and create an atmosphere of corruption that excludes him from just the most basic of law requirements of having licensures and safety measures in place to protect the women who are in danger from his botched abortions," Newman says. The investigation reveals Haskell's lack of hospital privileges and transfer agreements in the Dayton area, recordings of calls admitting the clinics to be unsafe environments, and politicians who have covered for Haskell in the past. The pro-life leader reports that Haskell is the only abortionist in the state who has received a variance from the licensing law. Newman's aim is for the illegal politics to be brought to the surface and for the law to be applied equally to everyone. "This is a time for transparency in government to root out corruption," Newman urges. "Let's get the laws applied equally to every single person -- and that includes abortionists." Newman contends there have been botched abortions, especially at one of Haskell's three clinics, and it should be shut down pending outcome of any investigation.
