A pro-family leader in Maine receives a death threat via the telephone.
In the wake of the defeat of homosexual marriage in Maine, Michael Heath, former director of the Christian Civic League of Maine, received this message on his answering machine from an anonymous caller. "I am calling about Mr. Mike Heath, the Executive of your Christian Civic League of Maine. He thinks that gay people should have our rights revoked, [the rights] that we already have. Well I can tell him this - I'm a gay guy who owns guns, and he's my next target." Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel says the police were immediately notified. "This needs to be taken very seriously. As we've seen, there are domestic terrorists that walk amongst us," Barber reminds "Whether they be radical Muslims or radical homosexual activists is irrelevant." Barber notes that after homosexual marriage was defeated in California, similar threats were issued to supporters of traditional marriage. "They portray themselves as the victim, yet these homosexual pressure groups, through much of their rhetoric, actually incite threats of violence and church bombings and now even terrorism against Christians," Baber states. He further adds that this latest threat directed at Michael Heath can even be construed as a so-called "hate crime."
