Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is expanding its program to declare college and university campuses free-speech zones.

public speakerADF attorney David French contends there is a lack of free speech on the campuses. In fact, he says about 70 percent have policies that violate the Constitution.

"There has been an unprecedented $9.2 million gift to ADF that ADF is committed to matching for a total number of just under $20 million to restore the marketplace of ideas to campus, to roll back censorship against Christian students and Christian professors on campus," French says.

The funds will utilize various tools to educate students on their rights.

"We're also providing them with counsel so they can exercise their rights responsibly and take advantage of their opportunities they have in college," French adds. "And then as a last resort, if education, if information, if counseling does not succeed in protecting student rights, then we have no hesitation to go into court and protect the First Amendment."

French says the way to avoid a lawsuit is simply for campus officials to allow students to exercise their First Amendment rights.
