Obama's 'shocking' and 'explosive' links

Barack Obama talkBarack Obama's alleged socialist and communist connections will be the highlight of a planned news conference to be held in Washington in late May.

Veteran conservative journalist and media critic Cliff Kincaid says the news briefing scheduled for May 22 is not designed to support or oppose any one presidential candidate, but rather to shed light on parts of Senator Obama's (D-Illinois) past that the mainstream news media has chosen to ignore.

Kincaid, president of the group America's Survival, argues the media's "cheerleading" for Obama has gotten so loud that the American public has been largely kept in the dark about his ties to some questionable characters. Kincaid says they plan to release two reports that will shed light on those questionable connections.

"[O]ne [report] on his years in Hawaii when he came under the influence of a member of the Communist Party," says Kincaid. "And then in Chicago where he came into contact with communist and socialist forces, as well as communist terrorists -- the people in the so-called Weather Underground group," he details. "We'll have a lot of new information."

Kincaid says the reports will be both "explosive" and "shocking."

Conservative radio talk-show host Sean Hannity has been making a big issue of Obama's connection to former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, who once told the New York Times: ''I don't regret setting bombs .... I feel we didn't do enough.''

The May 22 press conference will feature a former investigator for the House Committee on Un-American Activities, whose job was to expose Soviet misinformation campaigns, including one that accused the U.S. of creating the AIDS virus. Obama's controversial former pastor Jeremiah Wright has defended the very same conspiracy theory.
