The American Family Association received a second consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator (CN), an independent watchdog organization which monitors nonprofit groups. The award was based on AFA’s sound fiscal management.
Only 17% of the charities rated receive at least two consecutive four-star evaluations. CN spokesman Michael Smith said that indicated the AFA

“outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible. This ‘exceptional’ designation from CN differentiates AFA from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
CN is the largest charity evaluator in the country, examining 10 times more charities than its nearest competition.
“We are gratified that Charity Navigator recognizes that we are responsible and above board in our operations,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “We try hard to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us by our supporters.”
