October is Clergy Appreciation Month

No one would argue that pastors have a tough job. Many perform their daily, draining tasks never asking for anything in return. October is Clergy Appreciation Month, a time for individuals and congregations to thank pastors and elders for their tireless commitment to ministry.
According to 1 Timothy 5:7, “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (emphasis added).
Focus on the Family (FOTF), which initiated Clergy Appreciation Month, offers free resources, including ideas on how to show appreciation in simple ways – mowing a yard, babysitting or taking a pastor and his family to lunch. It is the little things that count.
The congregation could hold a pot-luck dinner or devise a more creative form of recognition. For more ideas, contact FOTF at their Web site or toll free at 800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
