Half-million pledge to boycott PepsiCo
AFA recently announced it has secured over 500,000 signatures from people pledging to boycott PepsiCo Company over the company’s support of same-sex marriage and homosexual advocacy. The boycott began in January 2009.
AFA has continuously asked PepsiCo to be neutral in the culture war, but it has refused. Tim Wildmon, president of AFA, said a gay lifestyle is dangerous. He said, “It’s a medical fact that persons trapped in homosexuality are statistically more likely to experience shortened life span, clinical depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and life-ending diseases.”
The boycott began after PepsiCo had given $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and another $500,000 to Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). HRC and PFLAG were major supporters of the efforts to defeat Proposition 8 in California. Proposition 8 defined marriage as being between a man and a woman.
