BBC sportscaster won’t work on Sundays

A BBC soccer sportscaster refuses to work on Sundays because he is a devout Christian. Dan Walker insists on observing the Lord’s Day even though there are big match-ups almost every Sunday this season.
“When I first told the producers on a major radio station I wouldn’t work on a Sunday, they told me I’d never get anywhere in broadcasting,” said Walker.
Walker said an old boss told him that if he was going to take this stand on honoring the Lord’s Day, he was going to have to be not just good, but the best in sportscasting.
Even as a teen, Walker took his faith seriously, refusing to play sports events with his team on Sundays.
“I firmly believe God was using that experience, even at an early age, to prepare me for situations in the future when I would need much stronger convictions,” Walker said. “Obviously, as a professional I keep abreast of the scores but I spend Sunday at church and with my family.”
