State of Indiana keeps motto plate

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) won a lawsuit over their popular “In God We Trust” license plate.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Indiana sued the BMV, claiming people should be charged for the plate like other vanity plates, otherwise it is a state endorsement of religion.
Marion County Superior Court Judge Gary Miller dismissed the suit, saying the plate was “designed by a process similar to the Standard Plate, mass-produced like the Standard Plate, and widely distributed like the Standard Plate based on consistently high sales.” The ACLU of Indiana plans to appeal the ruling.
The motto plate was introduced in 2007 by state law. More than 1.6 million vehicles have the plate.
