PCUSA court sides with pro-homosexual pastor

A female Presbyterian pastor was found innocent of violating denominational law when she performed two lesbian weddings, according to the Presbyterian Church’s (USA) highest court.
Last year, the Louisville, Kentucky, regional judicial committee of the PCUSA found Jane Spahr, of San Rafael, California, guilty of misconduct. The high court overturned that ruling, saying the ceremonies were not legal marriages, so no church law was broken. Spahr retired last year from ministry.
Controversy over homosexual issues is nothing new to the PCUSA. Currently, numerous conservative congregations around the country have broken away from the denomination to protest the PCUSA’s apparent acceptance of homosexuality.
