Planned Parenthood seeks silence, fails

Abby Johnson, former director of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Bryan, Texas, resigned after seeing a sonogram of a baby as it was being aborted. Johnson converted from "pro-choice" to pro-life on the basis of her faith, and she began offering her testimony nationwide.

Planned Parenthood clinic smallAfter quitting her job at Planned Parenthood, the organization filed suit against Johnson to block her from revealing any confidential information through copies of documents she allegedly made. Steven H. Aden of Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) took the case to court, where the ruling fell in Johnson's favor.

"Planned Parenthood got its temporary restraining order against Abby Johnson thrown out because the judge said they had no evidence that this former director of Planned Parenthood's College Station clinic had absconded with any confidential information regarding its employees or patients," the attorney reports.

Abby Johnson (Coalition for Life)In just a matter of days following her conversion, Johnson became a sought after pro-life spokesperson.  She is currently employed by Brazos Valley Coalition for Life, a pro-life organization. Coalition director Shawn Carney finds Planned Parenthood's request and actions unnecessary as there has been no effort on Johnson's behalf to release records.

The ADF attorney has witnessed similar strategies before. "This is just another example of Planned Parenthood's bullying tactics," contends Aden. "[They are] trying to silence women who tell the truth about Planned Parenthood's lies and fraud against women."

Aden says Johnson is telling the truth and has the right to do so because of constitutionally protected freedoms of speech and religion.
