Jim PouillonHarlan Drake has been found guilty of killing a pro-life demonstrator in Owosso, Michigan.

On Thursday the jury found Drake guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths September 11 of last year of Christian activist James Pouillon and businessman Mike Fuoss. Drake testified about loading two guns in his vehicle the morning of the shootings.

"I was still thinking about shooting Mr. Pouillon that morning, so I thought I would take [the guns] with me -- and then if he was there I would be able to shoot him," he stated. "If he wasn't there, I'd just go home."

Pouillon was at the location across from a high school holding signs of aborted babies. Drake admitted gunning him down, and later shooting Fuoss at his business. Drake's attorney, Robert Ashley, talked with WJRT-TV in Flint after the verdict.

"Mr. Drake's reaction, the word that has come to my mind, is he's accepted the verdict with equanimity," said the attorney. "He does not appear to have a quarrel with the verdict. I don't think he had [a quarrel] throughout these proceedings. Whatever the jury decided, he was prepared to accept -- and from his reaction, I think you all saw it, he has accepted it."

Drake faces a mandatory life prison term when he is sentenced April 23.
