A secret Chinese government document has been uncovered that orders churches in that country to shut their doors for three months. The order is timed to coincide with the Olympic games and says church members who violate the rules will be subject to disciplinary actions of the Chinese government.
Daniel Burton is with the China Aid Association, which discovered the directive. He says the communist Chinese government will go to great lengths to create a seemingly harmonious society. "That's what they're presenting to the international community," Burton observes. "Well, at the same time they're treating their own people with disregard for basic human rights...[t]his is definitely a two-faced government we're seeing here." Burton encourages Christians to pray for Christians in China, and also to contact the Chinese ambassador to the United States and protest the human-rights violations.
