The booking records of an illegal immigrant charged with the brutal murder of three men in San Francisco are being sought after by a public-interest group that investigates government corruption.
Edwin Ramos is believed to have gunned down Tony Bologna and his sons Michael and Matthew with an AK-47 assault rifle following a minor traffic incident on June 22, 2008. Press reports say Ramos -- an illegal alien from El Salvador and a member of the notorious MS-13 street gang -- had been arrested on three prior occasions and convicted of two felonies but was never turned over to federal authorities. Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch is investigating that report. He says his organization wants to look at police records surrounding Ramos' prior arrests. "...We've filed an open records request with San Francisco authorities to get information about the alleged murderer's arrest record," he details. "We want to be sure that the sanctuary policy of San Francisco allowed him to be out on the streets in such a way that caused these three individuals -- the father and two sons -- to be murdered." In addition, Judicial Watch is challenging the sanctuary policies of San Francisco as being in violation of California state law. Fitton says a lower court ruled in favor of the city, but he points out that this triple homicide has even caused liberals in San Francisco to call for a review of the sanctuary policy.
