Napolitano should go, say lawmakers

Rep. John Carter (R-Texas)A Texas congressman is calling on President Obama to fire Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for defending the now infamous DHS report on "right-wing extremists."

Janet Napolitano's agency recently warned law enforcement to keep a close eye on "disgruntled" military veterans and opponents of abortion and illegal immigration. The leaked DHS intelligence report says "right-wing extremist" groups may be using the economic recession and the election of President Obama to recruit domestic terrorists.

Congressman John Carter (R-Texas) is among several House Republicans who have either called for Napolitano to step down or be fired.

"We shouldn't even give her the respect of letting her resign," exclaims Carter. "She should be fired by the administration for accusing honest, American citizens -- because of their political beliefs -- of being domestic terrorists."

Janet Napolitano (Dept. of Homeland Security)Carter points out what he sees as another Napolitano shortcoming. "[R]emember, this is the same Janet Napolitano who decided that we would no longer call the real terrorists 'terrorists' -- no more," he notes. "Now they are 'human disasters' or something like that."

The Texas Republican says he will "keep pounding" the issue "until we get rid of this woman because she has no business serving in the position she's in now."
