An Iranian-American man who has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton -- and was once nominated by President Clinton to be U.S. ambassador to Argentina -- has been arrested on a bank fraud charge.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton fundraiser Hassan Nemazee is currently under house arrest at his Manhattan apartment after being charged with using phony documents to fool Citigroup into lending him $74 million. The arrest of Nemazee comes just four months after prominent Clinton donor Norman Hsu was convicted of campaign finance fraud for making tens of thousands of dollars in illegal donations. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, does not believe Obama and Clinton were unaware of Nemazee's background, especially since a 1999 Forbes article suggested that his business practices were suspect. "The problem is, these politicians don't care," Fitton states bluntly. "As long as you're raising the money, they don't care about your ethics or [your] background or your criminal history -- and in the case of Nemazee, he was...helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Clinton gang. And then even after Clinton lost [the Democratic primary], he went over to the Obama side and raised a half-a-million dollars for him." Fitton contends that politicians like Obama and Clinton "will take money from the devil himself as long as they're able to use it to put themselves in power."
