NY - the marriage battle continues

New York's governor has called the legislature to a special session.

The state Senate will be the stumbling block for the governor because there are reportedly only 25 of the 32 votes needed for passage. The lower House, however, has already passed it. Jason McGuire of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms believes the issue of same gender marriage is fundamental.

wedding rings 2"If we reject the sacredness of marriage, and as a culture we've already walked away from the sanctity of life, really what else is there? These are the things that go back to the very beginning of the book of Genesis, and that is the point at which the devil is at this moment attacking, and Christians need to stand up and defend," McGuire urges.

There is a push in the Senate to delay the vote until next year because it is an election year, but McGuire notes that homosexual activists generally keep promoting their agenda until they are successful.

"You got it," he assures. "One of the things we quickly learn here is that every victory that we experience, every win that the Lord gives us is temporary. And next year... all those advocating for all sorts of abominations will be back, and I guarantee you that we will be back to fight that as well."

Whether homosexual marriage has a chance to pass this year or not, McGuire feels it is essential for Christians to get involved.
