Nancy PelosiHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi's recent interview with Newsweek Magazine is creating a stir in the pro-life community.

In the article, the California Democrat -- a professed Catholic -- stated some of her concerns about the church's position on homosexuality and abortion, even though those stances are based strictly on the Bible.

Jim Sedlak of the American Life League reiterates one cannot support abortion and claim to be Catholic "because the Catholic Church has been adamantly against abortion."

"It sees abortion as an intrinsic evil -- which means there is never a justification for a direct abortion in church teaching," he adds, adding that Pelosi is "just crazy."

Jim Sedlak 1The article also quotes the House Speaker saying that limiting abortion restricts the free will of women. Sedlak rebuts that statement by noting that exercising free will in that manner can put a person in hell for eternity.

"Just because you have free will does not mean that you always make the right decision," he contends. "I think she is very, very confused over what free will is and what free will would allow her to do and still be in good standing with the Catholic Church."

Sedlak adds that Pelosi is advocating the killing of unborn children, and she thinks that is consistent with God's teaching, which is not true. He encourages people to pray for Pelosi and others of like mind.
