Will homosexuals join military ranks?

Army soldiersA conservative military watchdog says homosexual activists are engaged in an all-out effort to overturn the law that bans homosexuals from being in the U.S. military.

Homosexual groups are reportedly almost giddy with the prospects of a Barack Obama presidency and the expected increases by the Democrats in both the House and Senate this fall. As a result, groups like the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network have already been pressuring lawmakers to repeal the 1993 law passed by a Democratic-controlled Congress that says homosexuals are not eligible to be in the military.

Elaine Donnelly is president of the Center for Military Readiness. "What would happen to our military if the order was given that everybody must not only accept homosexuals in the military, but also be submitted to sensitivity training classes, denial of promotions if they don't go along, [and] the entire civil rights agenda?" Donnelly asks.

So Donnelly says she cannot understand why the House Armed Services Committee has agreed to hold a hearing to discuss the issue. "Our question was, why is it that the House Armed Services Committee is even considering having a hearing? They really should not even give ten minutes worth of time to an issue that Congress settled in 1993 -- and there's no need to repeal that law," she contends.

Donnelly is encouraging concerned citizens to sign a petition at AmericansfortheMilitary.com to urge Congress to uphold the law and keep homosexuals out of the military.
