'Kiss-in' another chance to support Chick-fil-A

Charlie Butts   (OneNewsNow.com) Thursday, August 02, 2012
As Chick-fil-A expects a second call to action today, one Christian attorney is encouraging the restaurant's supporters to make another visit. One analyst expects today's "kiss-in" staged by homosexual activists to get more mainstream news coverage than the success of Wednesday's "Appreciation Day."

Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Chick-fil-A stores on Wednesday to show their appreciation for CEO Dan Cathy's biblically correct support for traditional marriage.

But also in response to his recent statement affirming that support, homosexuals in at least 30 states will be visiting stores today to make a different statement. Their hope, according to Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel Action, is to drive business away.
Matt Barber"Here we have this 'kiss-in', where homosexual activists who are hostile to Christianity, hostile to biblical morality, hostile to free speech are going into Chick-fil-As just to try to shock little children and shock families and people by engaging in perverse, sexually-charged behavior," he explains.

But Barber is encouraging proponents of traditional marriage to counter that effort by returning to Chick-fil-A for another meal.

"Do it in a loving, Christian manner, to be a good, Christian witness to these people who are lost and hurting and seeking to fill a void that they cannot fill with sexual perversion and deviant, sexual behavior," he urges. "That can only be filled with a relationship with Jesus Christ."

Though Chick-fil-A has not released the exact sales numbers for Wednesday, the company has confirmed reports that "it was a record-setting day." Despite that fact, several mainstream media outlets virtually ignored the story. (Listen to audio report) The success of "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" received no front-page coverage by newspapers like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times. CNN buried the story on its website, and CBS Evening News ignored it altogether. Tim GrahamTim Graham, director of media analysis at the Media Research Center, tells OneNewsNow that Christians or conservatives gathering in large groups is not newsworthy to mainstream media outlets. "There are a lot of places where religious conservatives gather together, and they are peaceful and happy. And sometimes, peaceful and happy just isn't newsworthy enough," he explains, "unless it's the Obama inauguration." But Graham expects the media will most likely cover with enthusiasm the "national same-sex kiss day at Chick-fil-A," organized by homosexual rights activists. "After looking at the media for a number of years, you would say this will not be news," the analyst offers. "However, activists kissing, gay activists kissing in a Chick-fil-A on Friday might very well be news, especially if it causes yelling fits or violence, God forbid." The Media Research Center does note that ABC and NBC covered Wednesday's story, but they focused more on the small protest groups instead of the droves of Chick-fil-A supporters.

Meanwhile, Associated Press reports that police are investigating graffiti discovered today at a Chick-fil-A in Torrance, California. The message, "Tastes like hate," was accompanied by a picture of a cow. No one has been arrested.
