A Washington, DC-based leadership training organization is matching conservative job seekers with potential employers. The group held a job fair during the recent Values Voter Summit in the nation's capital.
Created by the Leadership Institute, an organization that trains in campaigns, fundraising and grassroots organizing, ConservativeJobs.com works to help conservatives find the right job in public policy, government, news media, business, or on Capitol Hill.
Emily Miller, director of career services for the Leadership Institute, explains that ConservativeJobs.com allows job seekers to upload a resume and search job openings.
"It's an online site where they can … create job seeker profiles. Recruiters also go on and create their own profiles. So it's a great way for us to connect people in a very easy-to-use fashion," she details. "We also do personal referrals and consultations as well. So if people come in, they want some personal advice on their resume, they want someone to talk to about their job search right now -- a lot of times people are looking for someone to listen and just to give them guidance and try to get them connected to the next step .... That's what we're here to do."
Miller insists that job seekers cannot underestimate the importance of being properly placed in a compatible work environment.
"They're working on very important and difficult issues, and so they have to have a good grounding in these issues … as well as just a strong belief in supporting these organizations, and also supporting these ideals," she suggests.
The Leadership Institute has placed more than 1,300 conservatives in more than 500 organizations nationwide.
