Union workers have a choice

Becky Yeh - California correspondent   (OneNewsNow.com) Friday, October 26, 2012

A California attorney is urging union works to join a national campaign allowing them to divert their union dues to the charity of their choice.

Dacus, Brad (PJI)ChooseCharity gives union workers the ability to opt out of union dues, transferring them instead to charity. Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) explains that unions are required to provide such an option for workers who can prove that supporting their union requires them to violate their religious or moral beliefs.

"Many unions, both in the public sector and the private sector, are giving their union dues to support issues, causes, and candidates that [are] keeping abortions occurring at such a massive scale in this country and furthering the homosexual rights agenda," Dacus notes.

But to avoid further supporting those efforts, workers can visit ChooseCharity.org and submit an application free of charge. ChooseCharity's staff will take care of the rest, notes Dacus.

"We think that this is going to be a major game-changer in that we're going to see … not just millions, but potentially hundreds of millions of dollars shifting out of unions that violate the principles and beliefs of Christians," the PJI attorney predicts.

Dacus adds that non-profits can help by including a link on their websites to direct visitors to ChooseCharity, which was launched by PJI attorneys.
