Bible with American flagAn expert on religion and culture believes indicators show a spiritual awakening is coming in America.

The movement may be coming incrementally, according to author and speaker Dr. Alex McFarland. He has been examining recent data about spiritual interest among Americans, and although there does seem to be a decline among those who have a nominal commitment to Christianity, he tells OneNewsNow the ranks are growing among those who are serious about following Christ, and that includes young people.

"There is an emerging wave of disciples that understand the souls of people are at stake," he shares. "And for Christ, and for a world that needs Christ, there is an exciting level of commitment."

"People are understanding that it's not just theoretical for many of our lives; it's factual," Dr. McFarland explains. "And for a church that's in a state of challenge and a church that's marginalized, there's a whole army of disciples that are saying, 'I'm up for it. Christ laid down his life for me; I will lay down my life for Him.'"

McFarland believes there is great spiritual hunger in America, and he also believes the Spirit of God is moving here.
