Tebow balancing faith, fame, football
OneNewsNow.com Staff (OneNewsNow.com) Wednesday, August 15, 2012
Tim Tebow, the backup quarterback for the NFL's New York Jets, says his most important call of the day isn't in the football huddle, but when he calls his Christian accountability partner at the end of the day.
The New York Jets backup quarterback says it's usually later that night, when he phones his Christian "accountability partner." Tebow says their talks and prayers together remind him that his top priority is God, his family is second and football is a distant third. At this summer's training camp, Tebow's every move on the field is scrutinized. Off the field, he's easily recognized by fans. The cover of
GQ
magazine's issue that hit newsstands Tuesday -- the quarterback's 25th birthday -- features a photo of a bare-chested Tebow in a Jesus-like pose from a few years back. But Tebow considers his fame an opportunity to serve God by helping others. He works and plays hard, but believes what makes it meaningful is "the lives you can touch."
