Vince Tornero, a 20-something Ohio native, is proof that there are young Americans who care about their country.
Tornero is a radio host and a member of The College Conservative. He talks about his faith, his conservative values and the issues facing America.
"The thing that just frustrates me is so many people across churches in America [say] I don't want to get controversial, or I don't want to get involved here," he observes. "Well, you've got to; you have to. You cannot be selfish … sit in your pew and just worship Jesus on Sunday and not get into politics [then] try to affect the change on Monday. Jesus was political. He dealt with the political leaders of His day, and we should too."
Tornero asserts that America is not his god, as he does not worship America or patriotism.
"I worship Jesus … because America's not going to save me from my sins," he asserts. "But it's my duty as a Christian to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) out in the political world and actually make a difference. The last thing I want to do is be a sinful human being, sit in my pew on Sunday and not do a thing on Monday for politics. That would be wrong."
Tornero can be found on TrueConviction.net, which is the official talk show of The College Conservative.
"Really what it comes down to [is] it's all about common sense -- looking at politics from just a normal-person perspective," he concludes. "I don't know everything; I just care about the future of the country, and I care about what's going to be here, God willing, when I have kids someday."
