Faith, family and freedom are the core values of a new organization in Texas.
Jonathan Saenz, a veteran attorney and legislative director for Liberty Institute, will head the new organization called Texas Values. Though he feels Texas stands for the values represented by the new organization, the state is not immune to outside influences.
"We're seeing more and more attacks inside the state of Texas on issues of religious liberty ... marriage ... family and pro-life," he accounts. "So we recognize that in order for our country to be strong on these issues, Texas has to be strong on these issues. We want to do everything in our power to make sure that Texas continues to provide the leadership that it needs and to reflect those values that most of the country once had."
Texas Values will be an organization separate from Liberty Institute, but there will be a relationship between the two.
"No doubt that we'll be working hand-in-hand on different issues and continuing to have that relationship that exists with Liberty Institute and the fine work that they do on religious liberty," Saenz remarks.
According to the press release, Texas Values is "dedicated to preserving and advancing a culture of family values [and] actively stands for biblical, Judeo-Christian values by ensuring Texas is a state where religious liberty flourishes, families prosper and every human life is valued."
