Final rally protesting the Obama mandate takes place

Charlie Butts   (OneNewsNow.com) Saturday, October 20, 2012

The final Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally is taking place today across America.

Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League says tens of thousands of people are scheduled to show up for the rallies in at least 130 cities.

Scheidler, Eric (Pro-Life Action League)"[The rallies are] most specifically opposing the Obama administration's HHS mandate that compels all employers to provide free contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans, regardless of any religious or moral objections they may hold," says the pro-life representative.

Scheidler says it is critical to get the message across to voters with the election so close.

"[We need to] get them to think seriously about where our country is headed when the federal government can define religious activity, excepting only that which happens within the four walls of church on Sunday," he says. "They exclude institutions like religious hospitals and universities, charities and Bible publishers from exemption from this horrible mandate."

Businesses have also joined in more than 30 lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the mandate. Scheidler points out that a little over a week ago President Obama reaffirmed that his administration will not change the mandate.

"This policy is really a bone being thrown to the radical feminists to help get Obama elected and has nothing to do with what's best for women, what's best for the economy, what's best for employers, what's best for religious freedom in America," Scheidler concludes.

Aside from the demonstrations, Scheidler is calling all Christians to pray about the situation.
