A new e-newsletter has been launched as part of a campaign to inform colleges and universities of free speech violations on campus.
The Alliance Defending Freedom has launched "Speak Up University" as part of the "Speak Up Movement," which aims to "empower ordinary Christians with information, advocacy and even legal representation" to ensure their free speech rights on campus.
"A lot of students unfortunately aren't aware that these restrictions on their sincerely-held religious beliefs are unconstitutional, if they go to a public school," notes ADF attorney Kevin Theriot. "And even If they go to a private school, sometimes they even have rights bestowed upon them by the private schools."
He lists those for whom the newsletter is designed.
"This newsletter is meant to inform not only students, but also administrators … professors and parents of students about their rights as students … their right to express their faith, and their responsibility to stand up for their faith when they are challenged," the attorney details.
Speak Up University features a number of resources to help students understand their constitutional rights on campus "and to get a full grasp of the magnitude of this issue on a national scale."
