A political analyst and New York Times bestselling author says embattled Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has won a major legal victory against the Obama Justice Department.

Dr. Jerome Corsi is a tea party activist and founder of 1776 Nation, a grassroots movement that calls national awareness to any issue that challenges the security, sovereignty or domestic tranquility of the United States. He recently reported on his website that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix has announced that a criminal investigation against Arpaio has been dropped.

Corsi, Jerome"This was basically a witch hunt," Corsi declares. "Arpaio actually was trying to go after a couple of the board of supervisors that oversee the Maricopa County Sheriff's office, and in retaliation, these officials charged that Arpaio had overextended his power in a criminal fashion. [It was a] two-year investigation -- zero result. I think again you're going to find the Department of Justice embarrassed across the board."

And he believes this decision will enhance Arpaio's effort to be elected to a sixth term as sheriff.

"Sheriff Arpaio has persisted through all this and is now vindicated, and I think he will win a major election victory," the activist tells OneNewsNow. "I think he's going to win it easily.

Corsi says Arpaio still faces a class action lawsuit filed by a group of Latinos, and another by the DOJ over alleged racial discrimination against Hispanics.
