A pro-family organization is celebrating the positive response from a company that was sponsoring a controversial TV show.
One Million Moms, a ministry of the American Family Association, contacted mattress company Sleep Number after seeing its ads on the new CBS sitcom, "Angel from Hell."
Within hours, says ONN director Monica Cole, Sleep Number announced it would no longer air commercials during the program.
ONN's intention was to remind Sleep Number that its advertising dollars were being spent on a TV show with crude humor and anti-Christian content.
"Angel" is a fantasy sitcom that premiered January 7.
"We appreciate (Sleep Number's) prompt response and their cooperation," says Cole, whose family-centered ministry serves as a TV watchdog for AFA.
Cole says OMM is fighting a second anti-religious show, "Lucifer," which is scheduled to premiere January 25 on FOX.
It's moms who do the majority of shopping and hence are a prime target of TV advertising, Cole points out.
"Moms can vote with their wallets if advertisers do not respond to our requests," she says.
American Family Associaton is the parent organizaton of American Family News, which operates OneNewsNow.
