A prominent Mississippi state lawmaker greeted Mitt Romney supporters in Oxford, Mississippi, last Friday, sharing the importance of her Christian faith as she serves in public office and her sense of encouragement as the presidential election approaches.
Sworn in January 5, 2012, Lynn Fitch holds the distinction of being only the second woman -- and the first Republican woman -- elected treasurer in Mississippi. Before a crowd in the new Mitt Romney for President campaign office in Oxford, Mississippi, Fitch recently talked about her personal faith and the Christian faith of the Founding Fathers.
"That's key. If you don't have your faith as your foundation, then you cannot be successful in anything you do," she asserts.
Regarding the upcoming presidential election, Fitch points out that momentum seems to have swung Romney's way as the Republican base has reenergized.
"I think we've hit some key groups, one of those being the independent voters," she suggests. "They have seen the differences.
"I mean, I think they understand there is a clear choice, and they will be better served by having a leader such as Mitt Romney. So I think we've made a lot of movement, and we have been a little slow in getting started, but the cenergy is definitely there now."
Fitch formally endorsed Governor Romney earlier in the year.
