Abortion money helpful in battle against ... mosquitoes?

Defund Planned ParenthoodIt appears conservatives will have to make their voices heard in November if they want to make sure Planned Parenthood loses its biggest cash cow: federal tax dollars.

Planned Parenthood – the world's largest abortion-provider – receives more than $550 million each year from the federal government. Republicans this year adopted a party platform that calls for defunding of the abortion business, while the Democratic Party fully supports Planned Parenthood.

An analysis published recently in the Daily Caller suggests that if Hillary Clinton's 20 richest political donors pooled their funds, they could replace those tax dollars for the next 120 years (see earlier story). But Jim Sedlak of the American Life League thinks he has a pretty good idea why they wouldn't even consider footing the abortion giant's annual budget.

"Because they want the taxpayer to fund it," he states bluntly. "And so they spend a lot of money on congressman and a lot of money getting a president elected so that we, the taxpayers, have to pay for Planned Parenthood's ideological push and for what they call 'medical services' for their customers."

Sedlak, Jim (American Life League)The pro-life group is convinced a majority of voters no longer want their funds going to the abortion giant, which does at least a third of the abortions performed each year in the U.S. So Sedlak says 2016 is a vital year.

"This whole election cycle and everything that's going on is just continually pointing out why Planned Parenthood is not needed in the country [and] why Planned Parenthood, behind the scenes, is such a gross organization selling baby body parts and all of the other things that it does," he laments. "The American people just need to say no to Planned Parenthood."

A convoluted argument on funding

While surveys continue to show Americans are becoming more pro-life and more in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood, the abortion-provider claims that withholding funding will hurt the fight in Florida against Zika, the mosquito-borne virus which causes birth defects in some pregnant women.

OneNewsNow spoke with Lynda Bell of Florida Right to Life, who says while the Zika threat there should be taken seriously, she finds it both "mind-boggling" and "unconscionable" for Planned Parenthood to use the anti-Zika campaign to promote itself.

Florida Right to Life"[It's] a backhanded way to get more [taxpayer dollars] and try to hold up legislation – like the Democrats were doing in Congress – [as a way] to help the victims of Zika and to stop the spread of Zika ...."

Which then raises the question: How could Planned Parenthood use additional funds to fight Zika? The answer, says Bell, is that PP is expert at aborting babies – including those who survive the Zika threat.

"The Democratic Party has gone so far to the left that it's unrecognizable as the party of JFK," she adds. "So you have a Democratic Party, which has almost become an arm of Planned Parenthood – and a left arm, if you will."

Planned Parenthood's Zika argument surfaced after Florida defunded the abortion business. However, a June 30 court ruling leaves the funding in place for the time being.
