Gay MormonsA pro-family activist who fights homosexual activism says the Mormon Church is better off without the "sin lobby" in its midst.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality was responding to the demands of homosexuals within the Latter Day Saints. More than 1,000 homosexuals marched over the weekend in Salt Lake City to declare they're leaving the Church.

While distancing himself from Mormon teachings, LaBarbera says other churches and denominations can learn from what's happening with the Mormon Church.

LaBarbera, Peter"And the lesson for any church is that appeasement does not work," says the longtime activist. "You cannot appease a sin lobby because they want everything."

The complaints come weeks after the Latter Day Saints announced a new policy that considers same-sex marriage apostasy. The church also stated that it would not baptize children and bless babies living in same-sex households.

"Members seeking to live lives of integrity as openly LGBT people must not only leave the church but take their children with them," lesbian Kate Kendell wrote in a Washington Post op-ed last week, announcing she was leaving the Mormon Church.

"There is no integrity in proud homosexuality," LaBarbera reponds. "The idea that you can be a proud practicing homosexual and a faithful member of any church is ridiculous."
