Thanksgiving is still a week away, but many people are already focusing on Christmas. So one organization is offering tips on everything from nativity scenes to retailers.
"Liberty Counsel launched the 15th annual 'Friend or Foe' Christmas campaign designed to educate and, if necessary, to litigate to make sure that the real reason the essence of the season, Christian themes, are not censored from Christmas," says Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel. "We provide education [and] information about the public expression of Christmas."
For example, whether it is a nativity scene on public property, people singing Christmas carols or passing out Christmas cards in the public school, or anything in between, Liberty Counsel provides not only legal education, but legal assistance and counsel when that does not work.
"We also have what the American Family Association also has, which is the Naughty or Nice List, which tells people to make a choice in the retail market when you're shopping during the Christmas season," Staver continues. "It's important to know those retailers that are profiting off of Christmas and want your shopping dollars but pretend that Christmas doesn't exist versus those that acknowledge Christmas."
He concludes, "We need to patronize those that acknowledge Christmas and ultimately tell those why we're not going to patronize those retailers that simply ignore Christmas, or frankly censor Christmas."
