standardized testsA black conservative activist says it's outrageous that the NAACP would criticize charter schools when inner-city schools are failing black children.

The historic organization, dominated by liberals, passed a resolution demanding a moratorium, and claiming charter schools lack oversight and accountability.

The real purpose behind the resolution, says Stacy Washington, is to support the left-wing teachers unions instead of the children they claim to care about. The charter schools aren't controlled by the unions like public schools, she further explains.

"The ones that are performing are doing so well," Washington says of charter schools. "And the ones that don't perform are shut down."

The Washington Post reported the civil rights organization has condemned charter schools in the past, but included "stark language" that includes a claim of  "increased segregation rather than diverse integration" of public schools.

The resolution also compared charter schools that appear in minority communities to predatory lenders, claiming also – in a resolution ostensibly about charter schools - that predatory lending led to the "sub-prime mortgage disaster."

"It's a fantastic, competitive environment for education," she says, "which means these schools will be fighting for your kids which means a better product and better outcomes for all of the kids."

A second issue beyond charter schools is the NAACP itself, the black conservative activist claims.

"They're now working against black Americans," she argues. "And once you know that—no more donations, no more attending their events and they should be left in the dustbin of history."
