climate change CO2A vitriolic ultra-left Virginia Tech professor wrote an article that was so bizarre – even by progressive standards – that the conservative political blog Powerline chose it for the "Green Weenie of the Week."

Virginia Tech professor Cara Daggett wrote that "petro-masculinity" involves men's desire to burn fossil fuels, which explains the concept of misogyny.

She also believes that fossil fuels contribute to a warped sense of "masculine identity."

Cultural analyst Janice Crouse – the author of Children at Risk – pointed out that the article is more humorous than scientific.

"I think anybody with half a brain does laugh when they read this article on 'petro-masculinity,'” Crouse contended. “The title itself is laughable, and the article – I think – gets even funnier as you read along, because it's just so absurd."

Daggett also manages to blame so-called “global warming” for "petro-masculinity."

On a more serious note, Crouse argues that universities employing people such as Daggett is a huge waste of taxpayer money.

"What are we thinking – that we allow people like this to earn salaries at our state universities to pollute the minds of our young people?" the conservative analyst asked.

Campus Reform explained further in its report on the topic that Daggett claimed that burning fossil fuels amounts to "a reassertion of white masculine power on an unruly planet."
