GOP and Dems duking it outDemocratic Party leaders are suing three volunteer College Republican signature gatherers after verbally assaulting them for taking part in a recall effort to oust California state Sen. Josh Newman (D-Orange County) and his high taxes.

The conservative college students managed to collect 85,000 signatures in support of a recall election, despite “goon squads” commissioned by Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Calif.) to intimidate voters – along with vicious threats waged by irate Democrats in the Golden State. Not liking their authority challenged in the predominantly blue state, Democrats have ramped up their intimidation tactics against conservative students through the court system.

“Sensing Newman's vulnerability, legislators changed the recall rules ex post facto (which will assuredly be legally challenged by recall supporters), and now Democrats are stepping up their attacks on people who organize dissent in the state – college students – or, more specifically, three College Republicans who volunteered as signature gatherers,” Townhall reported. “The California Democratic Party is suing them, accusing them of lying to voters and saying that the recall would repeal the gas tax.”

Pot calling the kettle black …

The charges made by Democrats against the Republicans are considered to be the epitome of hypocrisy.

“First of all, that any California Democratic Party official or candidate would accuse Republicans of lying to get votes – and say it with a straight face – is a massive insult,” Townhall’s Jennifer Van Larr reported. “These are the people whose confiscatory gun control scheme was called ‘Safety for All’ in ads. These are the people who claim that sanctuary cities are simply shielding hard-working, law-abiding, family-centered immigrants from being deported. These are the people who call taxpayers ‘freeloaders’ when they finally get sick of forking over the highest gas taxes in the nation.”

The motivation for the allegedly bogus claims against the red students trying to stay afloat in a predominantly blue state reportedly runs much deeper than what Democrats want most Americans to believe. Three College Republicans from California State University Fullerton (CSUF) – Ryan Hoskins, Amanda McGuire and Brooke Paz – and several other conservative activists are targeted in the lawsuit that was filed in the Sacramento County Superior Court … a strategic court placement by Dems because the venue makes it extremely difficult for the students to defend themselves more than six hours away.

“This is about the super majority the Democrats currently hold in Sacramento,” Red State pointed out before divulging what is really at stake. “If Newman is successfully recalled, they lose their two-thirds majority and won’t have the power to arbitrarily and spontaneously pass crushing taxes and fees.”

The lawsuit sends the message loud and clear that Democrats’ way of life in a swimmingly blue state is in jeopardy.

“It will also be a signal to other big spenders in Sacramento that their jobs are on the line and no one is safe,” Red State’s Kira Davis added. “They call that the ‘chilling effect,’ and in a state known for beaches and warm weather, we could definitely use a cold front right about now.”

What’s really going on

CSUF College Republicans Public Relations Director Brooke Paz argues that the Democrats behind the suit are looking to strip away and violate the constitutional rights guaranteed to all legal voting residents.

"This lawsuit is a baseless attack on the character of hardworking and passionate activists, as well as a shameful intrusion on the democratic processes that are my right as an American citizen," Paz assured the Daily Wire. "As we just celebrated the 241st anniversary of our independence, my God-given rights are being threatened by the California Democrats simply because they disagree with me and my colleagues.”

In a state where high taxes and mass regulations dominate – which have driven an exodus of many businesses and residents to other more affordable states, such as neighboring Nevada and Arizona – Paz insisted that Californians have already had enough of escalating taxes.

"Our elected representatives are supposed to govern by the people and for the people,” the student activist from Southern California continued. “The people do not want higher taxes, and as proven by the incredible amount of signatures we've gathered for this recall petition, the people do not want Newman."

A similar explanation of the motivation behind the lawsuit was given by Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Fed Whitaker, who noted that Democrats will do just about anything to maintain their power grip on America’s most populous state.

"Democrats are desperate to hold on to absolute power – whether it is changing the rules ex post facto on signature verification, or contribution limits, or a lawsuit challenging the validity of signatures – they will stop at nothing to keep absolute power," Whitaker told the Daily Wire. "There is no principle left for them. Ot’s only power, and it doesn’t matter if we change the rules or ruin the finances of ordinary college students now having to defend their own signatures."

Americans from coast to coast have been put on alert that similar tactics can and will be employed by Leftists – in order to take control in red and blue states alike.

“Conservatives in other states should take note,” Van Laar warned. “If we do not vigorously fight back against the ‘spin’ the mainstream media and Democrat politicians put out there, and Democrats take over, this will be the way the entire country is run.”

College Republicans Vice President Amanda McGuire is prepared to stand her ground to make sure that Democrats are no longer manipulating the political system to their own advantage.

"The lawsuit is a shameful and frantic attempt to silence voters of the district,” McGuire stressed to the Daily Wire. “The intimidation tactics espoused by the California Democrats should no longer be tolerated. It's gone too far when college students are being dragged into court for becoming involved with the issues faced by their local cities. I'm proud to be a part of the party that fights to fix our government on every level."

College Republicans Secretary Ryan Hoskins assured that he would not idly stand by as California Democrats take away every voter’s right to be heard.

"This lawsuit is the definition of frivolous, and more than that, an obstruction of the very processes that every Californian should hold dear," Hoskins expressed in a written statement, according to the Wire. "By naming myself and my fellow club members as defendants on this lawsuit, the California Democrats are attempting to scare us into backing down from this signature-gathering effort. They will not succeed in breaking our spirit, and with the support of the California Republican Party, we will fight it in the court of law."
