An advocacy group that seeks family-friendly programming on television has released its list of companies that sponsor questionable content.

The Parents Television Council released its newest list, which is named "Top Sponsors of Sexual Content, Suggestive Dialogue, Foul Language, and Violence."

Melissa Henson, director of grassroots education and activism for the PTC, is hopeful advertising agencies and the corporations they represent will reconsider the programing to which they alien themselves.

Henson, Melissa (PTC)"If they looked at it in this context," says Henson, "a lot of these companies would probably say, Wow, we didn't realize we were doing that…These shows are actually not a good fit for our brand."

Henson notes that McDonalds restaurants, in particular, have been the top contributors to the most explicit broadcast TV shows in recent years.

McDonald's is not just appearing on a large number of questionable shows, she says, but specifically advertising "on some of the worst shows" with sexual content and foul language.

OneNewsNow reported in recent weeks that McDonald's has lost revenue during the first quarter of 2014, and PTC claimed it was partly due to its advertising choices.

Sexual content was broken into two categories: "Sexual Content," which included depictions of or implied sexual content, and "Suggestive Dialogue," which specifically included dialogue about sexual content.
