"Our Cartoon President" showA limited-run animated show lampooning President Donald Trump will air next year but a media watchdog says it reeks of desperation.

Produced by caustic comedian Stephen Colbert, the 10-episode "Our Cartoon President" will premiere in February on Showtime.

"It's so crass and unfortunately it's so predictable," observes Curtis Houck of the Media Research Center. "And yet the 'Resistance' will definitely eat the show up."

There seems to be endless energy among the Left to disparage and discredit President Trump, he says, but this particular jab could be more pointed than most.

"This character or smaller spoofs have appeared from time to time on his CBS show," Houck says. "But this will air on Showtime, so in terms of the language, or sexuality, that's all out the window in terms of what they're barred from doing."

With 2017 behind them, he says, maybe a new year will help the Left deal with the reality that Trump is president.

"They've had a rough 2017, I guess, so they need to blow off steam," Houck says.
