woman wearing burqa (burka)The head of a messianic Jewish ministry says there's a reason that Islamic organizations are fighting efforts to outlaw Sharia law in the United States.

"The goal of Islam is Sharia law throughout America and the Left in America is just fine with that," warns Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries.

Sharia subjugates women, in fact, yet some feminists and left-wing activists have become apologists for the strict Islamic law despite its oppression.

There are a number of state proposals across the country aimed at ensuring Islamic law, also known as Sharia, will not be used in American courts.

The bills don't seek to specifically ban Sharia even though some lawmakers concede that's their intent. Instead, the proposals broadly call for banning the application of any foreign law, legal code or legal system that doesn't grant the same rights and privileges as the state or U.S. constitutions.

Muslim groups such as the Islamic Society of North America and the Council on American Islamic Relations are complaining about the anti-Sharia efforts and are gearing up to fight them.

Markell says this is another reason she is thankful that Donald Trump is the current president.

"I firmly believe that if the election had gone differently in November had Hillary Clinton won," says Markell, "we would start to see the beginnings of Sharia law in America. So God gave us a reprieve."
