ICE director rips Pelosi for calling his agents 'cowardly'

Nancy Pelosi looking to the rightIn response to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi accusing ICE agents and the Trump administration of carrying out “cowardly attacks” by arresting illegal immigrants in a recent wave of Bay Area raids, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan shamed the California Democrat.

“[My officers put] their lives on the line [every day for their country],” Homan asserted in a statement directed at Pelosi while on Varney & Co, according to Fox News. “So how dare you call them cowardly?"

A call for lawlessness

Homan was responding to a public statement Pelosi issued after ICE arrested 232 illegal aliens – a large percentage of them being dangerous criminals – in Northern California during a four-day sweep.

“The Trump Administration has dragged its attacks on California and all communities with the courage to stand up to its anti-immigrant agenda to a new low,” Pelosi stated in a Democratic Party press release issued on March 7. “Just last week, President Trump decided to terrorize innocent immigrant families in the Bay Area with his unjust and cruel raids. The President has now desperately decided to brazenly abuse the legal system to push his mass deportation agenda.”

She proceeded by encouraging Californians to break the law by aiding and abetting illegal aliens as they flee from federal agents.

“The people of California will not be bowed by the Trump administration’s brazen aggression and intimidation tactics," Pelosi continued. "Californians will continue to proudly keep our doors open to the immigrants who make America more American. We will fight this sham lawsuit and will fight all cowardly attacks on our immigrant communities.”

Homan stressed how the criminal illegals targeted by ICE in the raids are truly the ones who are guilty of terrorizing victims – particularly those residing in immigrant communities who have been threatened by undocumented aliens previously charged with assault, rape and murder.

"ICE went in there and removed these people from the community,” the head of ICE impressed. “So that's far from terrorizing. We're protecting people. We're protecting the American public."

More California liberals to deal with

San Francisco Sheriff Vicki Hennessy was also blasted by Homan – after she made a public apology for allowing ICE agents to interview an illegal alien inmate earlier this month inside a San Francisco jail.

“My staff made a mistake, and I have to hold myself accountable,” Hennessy told The San Francisco Chronicle on Monday. “I apologize on behalf of the department. I feel embarrassed by it.”

She went on to vow that she will not cooperate with ICE agents looking to deport criminal illegal immigrants in the future.

“I’ve taken steps to make sure it never happens again,” Hennessy added. “[ICE was] testing our defenses, and they found some weak points."

This unwarranted apology and embarrassment for observing the law she has vowed to uphold was condemned by Homan.

“Homan said it's ‘just ridiculous’ that a law enforcement officer would apologize for ICE agents gaining access to someone who was in the country illegally and was arrested for committing another crime,” Fox News’ Insider reported.

Crazy blue California law mandates lawlessness

But immigration expert Pratheepan Gulasekaram, who is a professor at Santa Clara University School of Law in California – which officially became the first “sanctuary state” in America earlier this year – argues that the interview granted to ICE agents by Hennessy’s department was a violation of California’s Truth Act … a piece of legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Calif.) back in 2016.

“The law mandates that before any interview between ICE and a county jail inmate, a consent form be provided describing the reasoning for the interview, that the interview is voluntary and that an attorney can be present,” the left-leaning San Francisco Chronicle indicated.

Gulasekaram contends that the radical leftist California law calls law enforcement officers to not comply with federal agents.

“Either what’s happened here is a deliberate opposition to San Francisco’s non-cooperation policy by sheriff’s deputies, or ignorance of that policy … and ICE doing what it does, which is to attempt to take advantage of that ignorance,” the professor from the progressive law school located in Northern California insisted, according to the San Francisco daily.“

The liberal Bay Area newspaper vouched that San Francisco police were out of bounds for complying with ICE agents.

“Department policy broadly restricts cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – forbidding most communication with the agency and barring access to inmates, some of whom the government would like to detain for potential deportation,” the San Francisco Chronicle’s Hamed Aleaziz contended. “The goal of sanctuary policies – which conservatives and the Trump administration have called dangerous – is to convince undocumented immigrants that they can engage with local authorities without fear that their legal status will be an issue.”
