A conservative activist is blasting the Democratic National Committee for comparing Donald Trump's golf course vacation while health insurance premiums are "skyrocketing" for Americans.
A spokeswoman for the DNC, seizing on a report linking President Trump to a double-digit jump in insurance premiums, called the increases a "Trump premium tax" that hurts millions of people.
The statement compared that worrisome situation to Trump and his "extended vacation" at a "luxury golf course" in New Jersey.
The study comes from Kaiser Family Foundation which is known for being liberal and for supporting the Affordable Care Act, says Phil Kerpen of American Foundation.
"I think it's a pretty shameful attempt to blame President Trump for the ongoing failure of Obamacare," Kerpen tells OneNewsNow. "2018 is the fifth year that Obamacare will be in operation, and it's the fifth year that we are seeing huge premium increases."
Because Obamacare has caused premiums to shoot up for four years running, says Kerpen, it's dishonest to claim Trump is the cause after just eight months in office.
