baby feetSaving the lives of preborn babies may be as much up to the public as it is to Congress.

Last week, the U.S. House passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which bans abortions after 20 weeks.

The bill then went to the Senate where the tough battle to get the required 60 votes to bring it to the floor for a vote will begin.

President Donald Trump has indicated he will sign it if it reaches his desk.

Foster

Americans United for Life CEO Catherine Foster says Congress needs to fully understand what the average American already knows.

“We are talking about children who are hiccupping, who are smiling, who have fingernails and toenails and heartbeats – and they feel pain,” she told OneNewsNow.  “This is a child who in many cases can survive outside the womb.”

Foster says it will take a groundswell of Americans on both sides of the aisle contacting their senators, asking that politics be put aside, and that they vote on the logic and scientific facts for the bill to pass.

“If we as a society can't come together and support and protect and spare the most vulnerable, the most at-risk in our society,” she says, “then I think that would be pretty damning indeed."
