Pope FrancisControversial action by the Vatican has shocked many Catholics and two leaders are talking about it.

Pope Francis bestowed an honor on Lilianne Ploumen, a Dutch politician and rabid abortion proponent, even though abortion violates the tenets of the Catholic faith.

Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute tells OneNewsNow just how far Ploumen leans to the left on the issue on abortion.

“Ploumen is so pro-abortion that she started what's called the She Decides Foundation,” said Hichborn. “Within three months her organization raised $300 million in order to provide funding to organizations that perform abortions.”

Hichborn also pointed out that Ploumen’s fundraising was conducted after President Donald Trump halted use of tax dollars for abortion overseas.

Another Catholic leader upset over the honor presented to Ploumen by Pope Francis is Judie Brown of the American Life League.

Brown explains that Pope Francis comes from a so-called progressive group of Jesuits in South America and this group of Jesuits wants to change Catholic teaching on contraception, abortion, and homosexuality.

Brown goes on to add that right after Pope Francis was elected, he stated that he was going to reform the church.

“They want to change everything,” warns Brown. “I'm sorry to say that I can't accept the fact that any pope wants to reform what Christ has established and put in place.”

So, for the first time in her life, Brown has found herself in the uncomfortable position of opposing a pope.

“Jesus stated that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church,” declares Brown. “And I’m not going to let this pope get away with a thing."
